I've been working on a project in my Fibers class using canvas and photo transfers. I scanned in a bunch of negatives (some from my last film-processing fiasco), tweaked them in Photoshop and printed them on George's printer. They came out better than I expected, and with a little encouragement from a friend, I decided to bust ass to get them ready to submit to the all-student show.
I stayed up until 5 am on Thursday, slept for a couple hours, and then had Chris drive me to school so I could be there at 8 am. By the time I got home, I had to start getting ready to work a double. I got a couple hours of sleep in during my break, but I was pretty much out of it all day. By the way, I would have never thought coffee out of a can would be good, but those Starbucks Espresso Double Shots are really yummy.
I don't know if my piece made it in, I'm really anxious to find out since I really worked hard to get it ready in time. If it doesn't make it, I'll be disappointed, but happy that I finished it early since it's not due until Thursday.
For the project, I ironed each image onto pieces of bleached canvas and then put them in the dryer with no heat. The transfers cracked and flaked from being tossed around, which gave the images even more of a decayed, desolate look.
Below are the images that I considered for this piece. I ended up using only the first 6, but I think they all fit well together as a series. I took them all between February and September using Kodak T-Max 400 and Ilford Delta 3200. The borders were added in Photoshop, as well as artificial film grain to the T-Max. I increased the contrast and selectively burned and dodged areas to give them all a similar feel.

i adore abandoned bathroom pics.
and i ahve no idea why.
anyway, the first and the last are my favourites.
